The part of the ancient Province of Gascony known as the Landes comprises long stretches of beaches, largely flat pine forests and a hilly region in the north. Dax, with its thermal spas, is only 30 km from Saint-Sever while the Landes pine forest is on the doorstep. The Pyrenees, the Basque country, Biarritz, the Atlantic beaches and Lourdes are an hour's drive away.
Saint-Sever is also famous for its gastronomic specialities and its bull-fighting traditions.
